MIGS
What is MIGS?
Do you have glaucoma? With MIGS procedures performed by the expert team at Gadsden Eye Associates, patients can receive the latest and most state-of-the-art treatments available.
MIGS stands for minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. These procedures have revolutionized how glaucoma is treated, ensuring safer and more effective ways to treat glaucoma beyond traditional glaucoma procedures.
They reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma and help control glaucoma progression. However, unlike more traditional glaucoma procedures, like a trabeculectomy, MIGS procedures are minimally invasive, allowing quicker recoveries and fewer patient complications.
MIGS procedures often implant tiny devices or use techniques to enhance how fluid drains from the eye to reduce the intraocular pressure in the eye. MIGS procedures can be performed during cataract surgery, but they can also be performed as standalone procedures, depending on what a patient requires.
