Tony Catanzaro, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Tony is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Alabama Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama in 1994. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow member of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Tony also has an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and worked several years at the Savannah River Nuclear Plant in Georgia before making a career change to medicine. Dr. Tony specializes in no-stitch cataract surgery, refractive cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, treatment of eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

Dr. Tony has practiced in Gadsden for 20 years. In 2001 he and Dr. Barry Dabbs founded the Northeast Alabama Eye Surgery Center in Gadsden. Dr. Tony is 100% committed to providing start-to-finish eye care to his patients in the most controlled, comfortable settings possible.Dr. Tony is very active in his church and community and is a devoted husband and father to four children.
